Our Story

How We Look At a Deck Job

We build, repair and refinish decks for homeowners around Collierville, and most of us came up doing framing and general carpentry before decks became the whole job. A deck is one of the few things a homeowner uses barefoot, so the gaps between boards, the fasteners, and the rail height all matter more than they do on most carpentry work.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance a board's gone spongy, a post is loose, or the whole thing just looks tired and gray. Soft spots almost always trace back to a joist that rotted from the top down where water sat on it, so we pull the boards back over that joist instead of screwing a new one on top and hoping. That's what keeps a repaired deck from failing again in the same spot two summers later.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed and Insured

If a post gets set wrong or someone gets hurt on the job, you're covered instead of stuck arguing with an insurance company. We'll send certificates before the crew ever shows up if your HOA wants proof.

Built to Local Code

Footing depth, railing height and baluster spacing all have to pass inspection, and we build to those numbers from the first stake, not just when the inspector shows up. That matters if you ever sell the house and the buyer's inspector checks the deck.

We Clean Up After Ourselves

Deck framing throws off a lot of cut-offs and packaging, and we haul it off the same day we finish, not weeks later. Your yard should look like a deck got built in it, not like a job site.

Written Quotes

The quote lists the decking brand, the fastener type and the framing lumber, so you know what you're paying for before we start. If something changes mid-job, you hear about it before it shows up on the invoice.

We Show Up On Schedule

Weather moves a deck schedule around more than most trades, especially with sealant and stain that need a dry day to cure right. When it does move, we call you instead of leaving you guessing.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand your job to a rotating crew of subcontractors we've never worked with before. The person who measured your yard is the person cutting your joists.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who we are and how we work.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction experience matters most in footing depth, load calculations, and code compliance, areas where shortcuts don't show up until years later. Ask any deck contractor directly about their background in framing and carpentry before hiring them.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Some deck builders use an in-house crew for every stage of the job, while others subcontract framing, electrical for deck lighting, or screen enclosures to specialists. Ask directly whether the same crew handles the whole project from footings to final boards.
Can I see photos of decks you've built before?
A deck contractor should be able to show photos of completed projects, ideally covering a range of materials like pressure-treated wood and composite decking. Photos of framing and footings before the boards go down are worth asking for too, since that's the part that determines how long the deck lasts.
Why hire a smaller deck builder instead of a large contracting company?
A smaller deck-focused contractor usually means more direct communication with the person actually doing the framing, rather than going through office staff or a project coordinator. It can also mean more flexibility scheduling smaller repair jobs a larger company might turn down.
Where are you based?
This deck-building business is based in Collierville, Tennessee, and serves surrounding towns within roughly a 50-mile radius. Being local matters for scheduling site visits and responding quickly if a problem comes up after the deck is finished.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Deck contractors typically get busiest in spring and early summer, so booking a new deck installation two to four weeks ahead during that season is common. Repair work usually has shorter lead times year-round since it skips the permitting process.
Do you clean up the yard after the project is done?
Reputable deck contractors haul away scrap lumber, packaging, and leftover fasteners the same day the project wraps up. Ask specifically whether cleanup is included in the quoted price, since some contractors bill it separately.
What happens if something on my property gets damaged during construction?
A licensed and insured deck contractor's liability coverage should cover accidental damage to landscaping, siding, or other property during construction. Getting proof of current insurance before work starts is the best way to confirm that coverage is in place.
Will you finish a deck another contractor started or abandoned?
Many deck contractors will take over a partially built deck, but they'll usually inspect the existing footings and framing first to confirm it meets code before continuing. If the existing work doesn't meet code, that portion typically needs correcting before the project moves forward.
How can I tell if deck work is being done correctly?
Footings should be dug to the required depth for the local frost line and soil type, ledger boards should be flashed and bolted rather than just nailed, and joist spacing should match the decking manufacturer's span table. A local building inspector checks most of this at permit sign-off, which is one reason permitted work carries more accountability than unpermitted work.
